How to choose tips

Probability, fair odds and value — what those numbers mean and why to look at them instead of a feeling about the favourite.

Probabilities

The model calculates the probability of the basic outcomes (home win / draw / away win). Probability does not mean certainty — 62 % still leaves 38 % room for a different result.

Home: 62 % · Draw: 23 % · Away: 15 %
→ The model sees the home side as the favourite, but the result is not certain.

Fair odds

Fair odds are calculated from the probability — odds that correspond to that probability without bookmaker margin and market distortion. A probability of 50 % corresponds to odds of ≈ 2.00, 25 % corresponds to ≈ 4.00.

Value

Value arises when the market odds are higher than the model's fair odds — the bookmaker offers higher odds than the calculated probability implies. The full calculation step by step:

Demo · illustrative data
Model probability
58 %
Fair odds
1.72
Bookmaker odds
1.85
Value
↑ +7,6 %
  • 1Fair odds = odds corresponding to the model probability without bookmaker margin (1 / 0.58 ≈ 1.72).
  • 2The odds actually posted by the bookmaker.
  • 3Positive value: bookmaker odds are higher than fair value — but that does not guarantee the tip will land.

Over the long run, it makes more sense to look at value than at a feeling about the favourite. Positive value does not mean the tip will certainly land — only that the odds may be better than their fair value.

How best tips are chosen

Best tips are chosen by a combination of probability, odds, fair odds and value — not by feeling. Higher value alone is not enough; probability, market type and data quality matter too. The model looks for markets with the largest gap between odds and fair odds: result, goals, BTTS, corners and cards.
